Are you "just getting by"? Are you living a numbing way of life where
you do just barely enough to get by? Have you told yourself to stop
dreaming and convinced yourself that you are fine with settling for a
mediocre life while secretly wishing that your life had more meaning or
pizzazz?
Do you know what goes hand in hand with the concept of "just getting by"?--it's the belief that your life is limited and you cannot be successful or smart or happy or whatever the case may be. You are willing to settle for the ordinary and no longer strive for a better way of life for yourself.
It's a way of life that you have convinced yourself is perfectly acceptable. And it is.
Just getting by is completely fine as long as you choose that life because it's what you want and not because deep down you believe that you cannot do any better or are hiding from your dreams.
But-- if even the slightest part of you feels an urge to live more, unleash your potential and make your life better, then Houston, we have a problem!
What do you do now?
It's time to kick those Limiting Beliefs to the curb!
Limiting beliefs hold you hostage by continuously playing negative tapes in your head about how you can't be any happier, that you should settle for what you can get, and it's better to play it safe and just try to get by. Does this sound familiar?
Limiting beliefs taint your thinking and you begin to believe "I'm not good enough to be great"; "I don't have any special qualities or talents so I can't be happy and successful".
How do these limiting beliefs show up in our behaviors? One of the most common ways it through procrastination. You know you're procrastinating when you're suddenly cleaning your house, or digging up weeds in the neighbor's yard or surfing the web for hours on end, etc., when you really need to be working or studying or getting a project done.
You procrastinate because your insecurities rear their ugly heads and convince you that you don't have what it takes to be successful. They scare you into believing that you might fail, so you distract yourself and self-sabotage.
